The 2016 Muster Thread
Hey there guys. It's been a year and a half since we embarked on our journey in Gaoler's Bend. And now, after many enemies slain, dungeons explored, and friends lost...
We find ourselves with a few fresh faces, and a whole lot of history.
I think it's about time we put together a new Muster thread, so that we can get to know each other a little more. Just a few personal details to put a face behind the character.
Without further ado...
First Name: Andy
From: Toronto, Canada
What RPG's (pnp) are you the most fond of?: D&D 1e, and D&D 5e. SWRPG: Fantasy Flight Games edition. Dungeon World.
Favorite PC/console games?: Morrowind, Mass Effect... Quest for Glory! Ashen Empires (mediocre indie Ultima Online ripoff - great memories). Ocarina of time (duh). Played WoW for 10 years.
What are you playing now?: Dragon Age Inquisition, Warframe.
Favorite drink: A good oatmeal stout.
Favorite book: The count of monte cristo.
Favorite fantasy setting: Middle earth.
Your last meal before summary execution: Lobster Roll.
Favorite adventure setting: Snowy forests and haunted castles.
Fantasy weapon of choice: Longsword and shield.
Favorite non-human race: Genasi
Dayjob: I'm the sales director of an organic food company.
Other nerdy hobbies: I collect boardgames, and love baseball.
Favorite movie: LOTR trilogy
Drives a: Honda CRV
Lightsaber color: Purple
Favorite D&D Monster: Mind Flayer
Kids?: Yeah! An awesome 2-year old daughter.
Ever played a Play-By-Post before?: Yep
What do you like about Play-By-Post?: Long-term, bite-sized bits of roleplaying day to day. An emphasis on roleplaying and narrative. Building a sense of community online.
What do you dislike about Play-By-Post?: Moves slowly. Life gets in the way of posting sometimes. Keeping enthusiasm going among strangers (but boy is it awesome when it happens!).
What would keep you playing Roots of Legend forever?: Patient players, who aren't afraid to tell me what they want more AND less of. Polite players that will participate on all fronts, and actively take responsibility for the rest of the group having fun. Communication about what's working and what's not. Epic moments.
Cheers

Ever played a Play-By-Post before?: Yes
What do you like about Play-By-Post?: The ability to write on a daily basis and escape from work at least 15 minutes per day. Using your head movies to observe a scene from each player's perspective compared to your character.
What do you dislike about Play-By-Post?: Sometimes it goes slow and you have to wait (sometimes impatiently) for the next post. Especially when the game is at a great roleplaying spot or the stakes are high.
What would keep you playing Roots of Legend forever?: Players. Without players the game would fade away. Good communication between players is essential too. Consistent growth of the characters.

Re: The 2016 Muster Thread
Name: Andrew
From: Pennsylvania, US
What RPG's (pnp) are you the most fond of?: D&D
Favorite PC/console games?: Fallout, Civ 5, Halo, Minecraft, Portal, Half Life, TF2, Bastion
What are you playing now?: Some Civ once in a while. Too busy to pick up Fallout:NV again.
Favorite drink: Teas of many varieties. For big boy drinks... idk, scotch was nice. Any choice of bubbly bitter-water if it's got a nice taste.
Favorite book: The Art of Racing In The Rain
Favorite fantasy setting: Middle Earth or Alagaesia
Your last meal before summary execution: Olympic swimming pool filled with ramen with seaweed, pork, beef, duck, eggs, peppers, etc, paired with a nice large pot of chamomile tea.
Favorite adventure setting: Bustling cities or ancient underground/stone ruins.
Fantasy weapon of choice: A blunt staff and a sharp mind. Oh, and a bit of magic, too.
Favorite non-human race: Elf/Eladrin
Dayjob: Mechanical engineering student at PSU
Other nerdy hobbies: Drawing (rare), reading (less rare), fountain pens, stationary, knives, watches, 3D printing, drone making and testing, Marvel club.
Favorite movie: Lord of the Rings series.
Drives a: KIA Sportage (Mom's idea, not mine. Honda Cr-V all the way.)
Lightsaber color: Blue
Favorite D&D Monster: Probably the beholder. Rakshasas are pretty cool, too.
Kids?:
Ever played a Play-By-Post before?: Yes
What do you like about Play-By-Post?: Being able to play from pretty much anywhere civilization exists, and, as a side effect, being able to play with all sorts of different people. Allows me to view things from other player's point of view. Can do some really well thought out and in depth role playing (without needing to act it out, too).
What do you dislike about Play-By-Post?: They can get very (almost unbearably) slow, and it is a lot of work to keep the momentum going, especially because people have different schedules and time zones.
What would keep you playing Roots of Legend forever?: Cool content and invested, excited players.
