Athkatla: Drexels Textiles
=====
As Custer bounded around the Merchant tents that lined the rows Daranthur's Hall Artimus weaved through the stalls with purpose, two clay pots nestled under each arm. The Hall was the first of the "shared-roof" markets that is becoming increasingly popular in Amn. The tightness and close proximity was more efficient then the rows of the promenade and it's people buzzed about like hive full of busy insects.
Artimus made his way to a large Purple covered tent bearing an ornate sign "Drexel's Textiles". The Mariner moved under the shade of the stall, the shelves and hangers were covered with a menagerie of resplendid colored weaves long bolts of exotic fabrics, and intricate rugs, sashes and tapestries. A round, Halfling in draped purple robes and topped with a thick braid of dreadlocks bounded up from his seat.
"Good greetings! Welcome to Drexel’s Textiles. Best cloth in the hall, you can bet on that!"
The Jolly Halfling zipped up beside Artimus dragging a stool as he went. Hopping up with suprizing zest, Drexel produced a measuring tape and began sizing up the Cormyrian.
"A fancy one you are. You Smell of salt though, fresh from the sea, yes sure you are. I have something perfect to match those pretty blues right here."
"Uh Merci, Drexel.." Artimus interrupted. "But actually I have zomething you may be interezted in, zomething zpecial from Baldur’z Gate." He offered setting the clay pots on the table."
"For me? What do you have there then, let’s take a look?" The Halfling unclasped the pots and removed the lids, exposing a thick green liquid in one and a runny black one in the other.
"Hmm ok then, this ok, yes" Drexel continued dipping the very tip of his finger in green mixture, then the black, smelling and tasting each.
"Ah Green Butro moss, and ah Black Beetle shell, very pure, but hardly rare. I hope you didn't sail all the way from Baldur's gate to offer these! I have a supplier for common colors here friend, cheap as can be, cheap cheap."
"Perhapz you zhould look clozer..." Artimus mused, a tone of mystery hanging in the air he twisted the clay pots revealing an inner container, filled with a wild shimmering blue.
Drexel fell of his stool, chalk set in the air and measuring tape wrapping itself around the round Halfling. Drexel looked up at Artimus.
"That dye.... it's Sorridor Blue, it's held only for the royal family of Grand Duke Portyr! How did you! You Dog! You scoundrel!" Drexel shouted, Jumping forth embracing Artimus around the middle."
"Ah, oui, oui. Why zhould it be held only for Kingz? Are all men not meazured by their deedz, by their zpirit?" Artimus said carefully pulling Drexel's arms from his mid section.
"They’re yourz for zay 250 gold a piece, and we can arrange more. However the zhipment will come in zkidz of 10. Eight will contain only average dyez 10 gold a piece, ztill the high quality the Gate iz known for, and two will have... how you zay, Hidden gemz.
Zhall I make the arrangementz?
